Hey guys whats up I just got back from gym. I was doing shoulder presses and the dumbell started falling backwards and I heard my shoulder crack.Im not planning on doing any shoulders for a while. What else do you guys suggest?

well, first off, how severe is the pain and where exactly does it hurt??? my shoulder cracks all the time, especially doing shoulder's at the gym!!! more info needed....

well right now it dosent hurt too bad, this really cracked alot tho,it cracked 3 times in the matter of a second,I was blasting linkin park but I still heard it.It hurts when I try to do the shoulder press motion again or when I pull back alot, like when your stretching kinda

it sounds to me like your gonna be fine...just ice the shit out of it and take it easy for a few days....if the pain gets worse then go see a therapist, but you say it don't hurt bad so you should be alright...ice ice and more ice!!!

You must see a professional as soon as possible.

I got a shoulder injury 9 months ago doing stright arm incline flyes with 75's. Heard a pop/crack and stopped the set and workout. 9 months on and my bench is like 135 for 12 - the day I imjured my shoulder it was 315 for 6! I have discovered that I tore my AC joint which is where the collar-bone meets the shoulder and completes the joint. I did not seek any help and there is now a chance that it has healed in the wrong position.

If there is a small bump on top of your shoulder (about one inch in) which is noticably bigger than the other side then you probably have the same condition. GET A DOCTOR to look at your shoulder as soon as poss. regardless.

To help the shoulder heal use Ibuprofen/ Motrin/ Voltarol gel 4-6 times a day and use ice packs as often as practiceable. If you do cardio or work legs then ice straight after the workout.

Good luck.

Thanks for your help guys I see no bump and I have been icning and and I took 2 grams of motrin to be on the safe side.I also took 2 grams of glucosamine and some chondroitin and msm too.Any other opinions would be helpful guys!

Musketeer, why are u trying to scare the life out of this kid!!! He said it don't hurt bad, if he tore an AC joint i'm sure he'd be in a shit load of pain!!!

Young, just do what your doing, if it don't get better then go see a therapist!!!

Point taken Troybday. But believe it or not my injury didn't hurt "too bad" except for when I trained -- so I just left it to heal. The last nine months were hell trying to get it to heal up. My advice on this matter would always be to err on the side of caution. Better to waste a trip to the doc then end up missing the gym.

thanks for ur help guys, funny thing is I just got done healing from an accident like this 3 months ago.I let it heal by itself except for alot of glucosamine but funny how it just started feeling good about a month ago and now its hurt again. So you guys dont think its too serious huh?Oh well I got some icn test coming soon Im sure the bloat will help me put water in that area =-).Im not gonna hit shoulders too hard Im gonna do recovery sets for delts. But other than that Im gonna hit it with my usual animal intensity in that gym. What you guys think of that?

OK -- you probably have not hurt yourself, but if I could rewind then I would definitely not have trained ANYTHING for two weeks after the injury. Just like you, I thought that I would leave it a few days, then I did a really light high-rep workout on delts to pump blood into the area. This did not help. Then I avoided shoulders and just trained at about 60-70% on chest and back-- not good at all. Thing is, if your injured, just leave it - like me you are probably dying to get right back into the gym but why risk screwing up your training for years to come because you don't want to wait a few weeks?

Read Flex, do cardio, watch the boards -- be patient.

YAW,go see a doctor.i completely tore my labrum which wraps around approx.2/3 of your rotator cuff.my injury did hurt a bit but, nagged more than anything.i waited @ a year before i saw a specialist that was 5 months ago & 20 lbs heavier.during that year i was not able to give 100% & cheated my body on making good gaines & benefiting from good gear(not that i was using any).moral is "better safe than sorry" good luck & hope it helps

first of all you don't "tear your AC joint." sprains to the acromion process are commonly refered to as a separated shoulder. if the pain is at the AC joint (on TOP of the shoulder, where the clavicle and scapula meet, at the most outward end of the upper trap muscles) then consider yourself lucky. shoulder separations are much less serious than dislocations, or other types of damage to the actual shoulder girdle (rotator cuff).

either way it doesn't sound like you are in too much pain and you will be fine. please read the following thread and my responses within:

Good Luck!

THANKS guys, looks like it dont sound too bad for me.Im not in too much pain right now because Im using ibuprofen. But the pain does not start at the top by the traps its more towards the back.I will be doing 3x15 shoulder raises with light dumbells for recovery+500mg icn galenika test! =-)
