I thought you guys might find this interesting.
I hurt my shoulder 4 weeks ago and can't even do a push up since. I was supposed to have an MRI, but I have a BB in my right eye from when I was a kid. So this was my only other option. i went in today and this is how it went.
First the doc shot me up with a few cc's of novicane to reduce pain. Then he proceeded with about a 3 inch(at least) 25gauge(thank god) needle directly into my shoulder joint. It took a bit longer than expected for him to position the needle directly between my joint due to my larger than normal shoulder mass(who-hoo!). Then he injected me with 7 cc's of a dying agent. He then took that barrel off the needle and added one with 20 cc's air. Yes thats right 20 cc's or AIR. My shoulder joint inflated like a balloon. The funny thing is it wasn't very painful. I then had some regular x-rays and moved on to the catscan room.
After the exam I was told I could leave and that the dye and air would dissipate within a few hours. Every time I move my joint I hear this sloshing noise. It's kinda freaky, kinda cool too(I know I'm sick).
What a day!
