shoulder hurts when running?? whyz

any ideas why my shoulder hurts when running? it usually starts at around the 7 minute mark and only hurts on my right shoulder
any ideas?

Have you injured the shoulder in the past? If so and there is joint laxity due to a spraine/strain maybe the bouncing and impact is causing the arm to move in the socket and cause irritation.

it could also be the way you are breathing, if you breathe into your stomach, that shouldn't happen, but if when you breathe your shoulders go up and down, that might have something to do with it, also when your conditioning level improves this should go away, on second thought, do the breathing thing only as a last resort

You could have some scar tissue on one of your tendons and its getting iritated as it rubs...
If you can afford it, go get a couple deep tissue massages...
My shoulder used to get like that when I ran as well...

ive hadnt an shoulder injury
im gonna go for another run soon and ill try to concentrate on my breathing to see if thats the problem.. if not ill try the others

flubber, are you talking about that acute cramping sensation just around the collar bone and shoulder that kicks in when your heart rate starts to get up there?

If so, I have had that ever since I was a kid sprinting, and other runners have talked about it too. I don't know what it is, other than maybe the muscles becoming engorged and putting pressure on a nerve....it almost feels like a throbbing pinch? Kinda radiates up the neck sometimes too?

i think alot of people get that weird pinching sensation when running. I dont think it is injury based but i would have no idea what causes it.

possibly the same reason we all get a stitch in the obliques. Whatever causes that.

i get this right below my left trap. hurts pretty bad too. even occurs when i bend over for more than 5 seconds to pick something up

LMAO!!

i heard that kind of pain while running was a bubble of air in the intestine. so i was told to do handstands for a couple seconds till it went away, and it usually does. try this, if you didnt know this already
