Shoulder dislocation - who have also experience with ?

... saturday morning I fall down the stairs and my left shoulder again dislocated... (have it before end of november 2005) so this is the 2nd time !

normally know who to live with a shoulder seperation and also my strenght performances was never better than before the last week but what to do against an accident...

visit my doctor, an orthopedist - he wants to make a surgery but I am not sure because last time, my first dislocation, after a month I could train with light weights, think after two month I was at a niveau as before...
also don't know if can trust the medicins because also think they will earn a lot of money with these surgeries and don't know if a surgery after a 2nd discloation is really necessary....

have some people from here experience also with dislocations and can give me an advice or some touts...

of course at the moment I am really dejectedly because I love to train with weight and I love this sport (also like running - but will try to start with running next week)

Svet,

I dislocated my sholder the first time in 1980. It dislocated about 1 to 2x per year for the next 10 years. Then it just fell appart and the last time it dislocated it was due to me picking up a stack of 4 empty cardboard boxes!

The surgeon actually yelled at me after seeing the MRI because my sholder capsule was shreaded and I do not mean low fat.

I had the surgery and it is much better now. I lost a bit of range of motion but that was a fair trade. It has not affected my lifting in years.

Get it fixed... putting it off will liekly just make it a bigger mess in the long run.

Blessings,
SuperChicken1

Hi,

so the last days I was at at the radiology (don't know if correct word/meaning in english - come from Hamburg/Germany) where were done MRI- Pictures of the injured shoulder...

The glenoid labrum is ok, so intakt and also there are no injuires, only a small hill-sachs lesion of the humerus but on nonrelevant area for further luxations.... so seemed that I was lucky... After talking with my orthopedian and sports physican, he don't want to make a surgery because of the reason that the labrum is ok and the rest will heal on hiself..

Will start with physiotherapy and train the rotatorcuff (already know these exercises) and slowly start with weight training and low weight after 20 days, this was also the schedule after my last luxation...

greets
Arne
