shoulder and tri lumps

I JUST FINISHED READING THE ABCESS INFECTION POST BY MOD.

WHAT I HAVE IS A LUMP ON MY SHOULDER AND ONE ON MY TRI.

THEY DON'T HURT AND ARE NOT WARM TO THE TOUCH.

COULD I THEN ASSUME THAT THEY ARE NOT INFECTED??

I WAS TOLD BY MY CHIROPRACTER THAT HEATING THE AREA WILL HELP THE BODY TO ABSORB THE OIL, BUT IF IT IS NOT ABSORBED BY THE BODY, THE BODY WILL BUILD UP A CALUS LIKE WALL OVER IT.

YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS??

ANOTHER THING IS THAT I KNOW IT IS OIL, LAST TIME I INJECTED WINSTROL IN MY SHOULDER, MY PARTNER PULLED THE NEEDLE OUT AND OIL RAN OUT OF MY SHOULDER.

THOUGHT I WOULD ASK ON HERE SINCE I HAVEN'T HAD TIME TO MAKE IT TO THE DOCTOR.

Did these lumps appear soon after an injection? If you inject oil based gear too quickly, it takes the surrounding tissue along time to absorb the gear. That could be the cause of the lumps. Keep and eye on them. If the area around the lump is red, or warm to the touch, then it is most likely an abscess.

If you site injections with oil based steroids make sure your injection speed is very slow, I would say 30-45 sec. if you use 25g or smaller needle it will probably take you this long anyway.
Second always massage the injected area to make sure the oil is evenly disbursed in your body parts, 30 sec to 1 min. should be ok!

GOOD LUCK!

Sounds like abcesses. Give 'em a few days and if they don't hurt and they are subsiding then you should be fine. If you get a fever, go to the doc.

I know a couple of guys that have this problem. Been having the lumps on their shoulders for over a year and they never go away. I am not exactly sure what it is but my understanding is that they need surgery to remove it.

there is no redness, pain or warmth. no fever either.

october was the last injection, and that was the winnie I was talking about in my first post.

the lump on the shoulder has shrunk slowly since then . I actually just noticed the one on my tri this week. It's hard to tell if its actually a lump.:p

I've heard that the surgery is an incision, scrape the calus part on top of the muscle, and then they drain it. I was told that they don't have to cut into the muscle.
I just got insurance so I figure I'll do the surgery and let people know what it's all about. It doesn't sound to bad.
