Should schools be able to paddle students?

just cause you had a good teacher doesnt mean he isnt stupid white trash without ambition. any retard can be a teacher. it doesnt take much education or work. i respect people who take risks and work hard.

Oh...no way. Some teachers bust their ass, and for that little ass salary, and take alot of shit. Risks??!! Does having to risk a kid pulling a gun out on you count?

Regarding this topic though: I dont' have any kids, but when I do I would go BALISTIC if any person layed a hand on my child. Only me and my husband have that right. I don't care if your my sister, mom, teacher, whoever, I will decided on the physical punishment admistered to my kid.

they deserve very low pay because anyone can do their job. its very easy and they get lots of time off. dont let the bastards fool you, they arent busting their asses at all. also the risk of a kid pulling a gun is no greater than anyone elses. i hardly think it should be built into their salary. let them just do their little job and dont yell or touch the kids who actually have potential.

There's a Hell of a lot worse things you can do to a kid as punishment than a paddling.
In the late 70's in Jr High, we got paddled by the coach's and it was no big deal.

Now, having to clean bathrooms after school or paint walls or sit totally silent for 2 hours in detention? That was painfull...

There are just too many whacko's out there that would abuse the power of physical punishment for me to risk allowing my child to be hit.

Even worse than paddling are those ding-dongs that tape mouth's shut or lock them in a closet.

It's real If the kid is disrupting the class or, kick his out of there.

my school used to have a pecking order of sorts. if the younger pupils fucked about, the older ones would take care of them, nothing serious but enough to shut them up. consequently all the weenies that cam into the school thinking they were the most fly 13yr olds in jnr high ( ) had lost that when they left. they had plenty of opportunity to hit the in school and ourt of school on cadet training etc.

then my school made some descision to completely crack down on bullying and form an studetn council of abti-bullies and crack down on the bullies themselves. now my school (ive left ) is terrible, weve had nobel prize winners come out of there, students used to be able to cover classes as there was so much respect commanded, last year 1/3 of the teaching staff (the best ones who had been there a while) left.

How does having a Bachelor degree compare with having a Ph.D in terms of pay?

In the UK, newly qualified teachers can make as much as somebody who just got a science Ph.D and works in academia.

Teacher pay in the US? Can you say dirt?
Starting in the low to mid 30's depending on which state/county.
Mostly Administrators have PHd's.

I agree it is the parents who should or shouldn't spank their children and for the record I believe that it is ok for a parent to do it. It was done to me when I was a little fucking terror and I deserved it. It didn't cause me any problems growing up.

No other person has the right to touch a child of any age. It reminds me of when a hockey coach tried to punish me physically, my step dad looked him in the eye and said "we both know the boy has a big mouth and is in the wrong, but anything you give to him, I give you back 10 fold"

Now as for teachers it is unfortunate how they are treated today, they give a lot to kids without a big return, they are way underpaid if you ask me. They need something cause it can be scary out there for them, but paddling isn't the answer, wish I knew what was. I couldn't do that job, I would lose it and throw the fuckers out the window!!

and without waste disposal people we would be living in garbage. im not saying what they are doing isnt important but you dont get paid based on the importance of your work. teachers deserve low pay because they are doing a job that anybody can do. education is important but at the lower levels it can be provided by morons with teachers edition text books. i do have more respect for college professors who are involved in other businesses and are required to publish their work.
