shirt collars

New member
some of the collars on my collared shirts have become flat on themselves, for example they don't spread out like when they are brand new. is there anything that will fix this, any home remedies?

Are you talking polos? Button downs? Dress or casual shirts?

If you mean point collar dress shirts (and some casual shirts too), you just need collar stays...
flip the collar up and see if there's a slot for them. Lots of shirts come with a flimsy set of stays in place in the collars when you buy them, but then they fall out on the first washing and most guys don't even notice it.

If collar stays are all you need, you're in luck because they're cheap. Most dry cleaning places sell them, or I bought a whole bunch of the hard plastic ones (Restora brand) online for like $5. I'd avoid metal or ceramic ones because they are too expensive for something that just gets lost anyways.

If you're talking polos or casual shirts that don't use collar stays, you might be out of luck. You could starch the crap out of them while ironing maybe, or a good tailor could make the button down shirts' collars into button-down ("American") collars. Tailoring would cost too much, and I'd prolly just say buy some new shirts unless you really like or paid lots of $ for your existing ones, though.
