Attached are a few pics of the Shanghai night life / streetscape. These were taken on a Tuesday evening, nothing special going on.

Enjoy - I've never seen anything like this, and I am from NYC.

thats the Pearl Tower by the Bund...night life is pretty crazy as well...Pu Dong area, Park 79 ?? several clubs within walking distance...people watching is the best in asia...

Hong Kong even crazier....Lan Kwai Fong is full of bars going up hill and girls everywhere...Wan Chai, strip bars where they try to trap your ass in buying a drink...warned by expats to look but not go in...

If you do go to Saigon, heard its really nice from friends/cousins...but dirty being 3rd world country...$$ goes a long way in Vietnam....make sure you bring those medical masks for pollution....

but if you venture up North towards Hanoi, go to holong bay....an hr or so by ferry ...gringos/european friends of mine have told me thats the most beautiful place in the world...

By the way, the Department Of Homeland Security has just announced that all travellers from China to the USA will be quarantined for a month upon arrival, to prevent the spread of bird flu.

Looks impressive

NYC, LA, London, Paris, Rome etc can't compete

Where do they actually quarantine people. Is it like a concentration camp?:D

Sorry Woot, I just though that was funny as hell. Looks like spanky bought a Plat membership! If I had any K left....I would dip into my red reserves.

Matt how long did it take to drive to Shaghai from NY?

17 hours. Thankfully I was driving a 747.

At the airport, as you enter the country, there are 3 people in labcoats behind a table all looking at thermal images on a monitor..all passengers have to pass this camera that is aimed at you. If you have a body temp above normal, they stop and question you, or if you have a hacking cough they stop and question you...of course behind them were guards in uniform to assist them.

Cool to see the thermal images and readouts of the body temps of people...

wow - those pics are amazing. and you're right, NYC skyline doesnt compare.

Shanghai is like 20 new yorks when it comes to skyline. Shanghai doesn't have a sky "line" because the city radiates for miles.

I saw shanghai from 32000 feet when i was going to japan. It looked incredible at night. Full of veins and glittering lights. And it looked huge even from that altitude. The pilot actually suggested that we all take a peek as we were over shanghai.

I was 14 then, and was very impressed. Definitely will end up travelling there.
