shake on the go

I know it is best to drink a shake immediately after you mix it, but how long do you have before it starts to loose some of its i guess you could say potency. For example if i mixed on in the blender in the morning and then had it 4 hrs later would that be ok.

I have never seen any studies done on this, but I try to drink mine within a 24 hr. period. This is why I rarely buy the ready made shakes...again, no proof, but I think there has to be some degradation.
