Well, I'm stoked that I got the 205. If you watch the video, you'll see that I missed it the first time and then got it the second. I think I just got so mad that I missed it the first time that I focused all of that energy into getting it the second time. Then, I went on and did the 210.

I'm seriously dead. Gonna get some great sleep tonight.

Smaller?!!? I'm 6'5" and he's 5'10". He's the small one. :)

Okay, okay, I'll admit that we weigh about the same and he can throw around a lot more weight than me.

good workout, your progressing very well, which is the goal.

couple of things though.

1 on your board presses........... you just touching the boards. you need to let the bar sink into the boards, and then the boards will sink into your chest. yes its harder, but its better for you. and remember on the negative (the way down) control it. its not like the speed day. your traps may be sore like you told me, but i dont think you had your shoulders pushed back far enough. ill show you sometime this weekend.

on your clean and press..... your clean needs a good bit of work. your bending way to much over the bar when you start the clean. it looks almost like your starting a straight leg deadlift. you are powerlifting (ie you squat and deadlift with the muscles of the hams/glutes/low back. but the clean is an olympic weighting move. those exercises use a good bit of quad. ie...your knees should be a little more forward on the clean. think like this.......... do an ass to floor squat (bodybuilding style) keeping your back upright. you knees should be slightly infront of the bar, and you shins should be just about touching. then begin the pull..... straighten you legs, then your back and shrug at the top, then dip under the bar catch it and squat back up. thats the order of movement.

on your press. move your feet closer together. then when you press if you need to you can move them out to the sides when you jump up. and your hands are way too wide. your elbows should not be in between your hands and shoulders on the horizontal plane. in other words. when lyou look in the mirror in front of you. your hands, elbows, and shoulders should all be in the same horizontal plane. find your grip.....in other words, bring your grip in.

and your jms........... they look good......... but remember to stop 4-6 inches above your chest........... what you were doing there was just skull crusher to the throat.

but your looking a lot thicker too, your body responds well to this training too.

and hey........... just becuase your numbers are increasing, doesnt mean im going to just kickback and wait for you to play catchup...........lol if you wanna pass me you gotta earn it!!!!

Thanks for all the tips. Makes me wish that you were there with me to *show* me all that I am doing wrong.

And it's funny that you said that my clean looked a lot like a SLDL, because that's the way that I was going about it; feet placement, hand placement, everything. I'll work on all that stuff next week.

It was so funny to watch cheesecake get the 205. He made it look completely easy when the set before it just laid on the boards. He made the 215 (or was it 210?) look easy too! I guess getting mad at not getting it really works :)
 
remember on the powerclean that you build the bar speed as the higher you pull untill about mid chest then you dip right underneathe it. Just imagine a jump squat with the bar following you a split second later. good work

You're more than welcome, and thanks for the compliment. A couple of tips for you on cleans

1- keep your head up that will keep you hips down.

2- don't jerk the weight off the floor pull smooth to break contact with the floor then hit your acceleration all the way through.

Great work brother.... You are progressing so well. I love the fact that you and puttinbuttin are working out now. Once she gets into like I have maybe we can go to a strongman comp and compete against one another. I have shown the bluegrass comp to several people at work and now the guys are so impressed that I actually pushed a suburban that they want to do it just so they don't feel like little weaklings... :)) hahaha Some of the ladies have made comments about my bruises and where they came from....I think they have taken the notion exodus took his aggression out on me but once I explain to them about the Hstone they just look at me like i'm insane.....HA I love those looks....:p Tell puttinbuttin to post her workout too. I need to compare numbers!!!!!!!

More like the bruises are from you beating Exodus. Yelling at the top of your lungs I thought you were gonna kick his ass, lol

Hey now that I'm on my way to getting bigger he better watch out. If he makes me mad he will have a challenge HAHAHA. Yes I was definately hoarse after the contest from all the yelling. I have to get in his face and let him know that I am there supporting him 100%. Otherwise he may think I'm not paying attention......and oh boy does he love the attention LOL.. :p

great job!! I am very impressed. You will be caught up with me before you know it!! :) As for mine ....well this week was not a great workout...my hip flexors have been giving me a lot a trouble so it got me down and I did not post mine....yeah i know I'm slacking... HAHA I will post tonights workout though....ITs ME upper body....I am very excited..we are doing something completely different than what i have ever done so it should be interesting ..

Yeah and if I remember correctly, someone had to push a Suburban with B Fold sitting in it.......you need some rest....

with repect to the cleans, you might want use the 45 pd plates, since you are pulling over 135. you wont have to bend over as far so i would think leverage would be better and it will be easier to keep the head up and the butt down. if you are using the smaller plates for a greater range of motion, i apologize.
 
Board Presses:

You are pressing upwards instead of straight up. It goes up for me when I feel like I am pushing AWAY. When my guys do board presses I yell...'push away!!!' when they are pressing...it makes them go straight which is less shoulder rotation (less risk for injury), more triceps, and a much shorter ROM. Your arms are a mile long...you don't want a longer ROM. :)

OHP: Not bad. I wish you could do them on a hard floor though. You might be losing your leg drive due to the softer rubber flooring. QUICK dip with the knees...needs to be quicker. Look at CCJ's vids...much better than mine.

Good PR's though...proud of you man.

Good tip. I thought about that afterwards. It's not that I was working on a greater range of motion. It's that I was too lazy to take the 25's off and go get the 45's. :)

When you say away, you mean towards my feet, right? The more I watch that video the more I see how I push back towards my head. With my long arms, I need to do everything I can to shorten my range of motion. :)

You know, I never thought about that. If you notice, the area right behind where we are doing them is carpeted. I might try them there next week. Exodus worked with me yesterday on how to properly clean the weight and also on how to double dip like Nefi did at the contest. Hopefully, all of this will help me.
