Serious question..who goes out by..

themselves? i catch weird flak from some people when i see them out or what not at the clubs or bars and they ask, "Who did you come out with?" and 9 times out of 10 i reply, "I came out by myself"

does anybody else enjoy this? My rationale is the fact i know i'll run into at least 10 people I know if I'm out and at least i am not tied down to anybody if i want to leave or go anywhere else.
