Serge Reding - 502lb Clean and press!

that boy has some serious lockout strength. Well actully he is just a massive individual. Is 502.6 still the world record or did some other animal beat it?

holy shit that serge redding dude is strong. what really amazed me was how easy he pressed that shit. he doesnt even look all that muscled up. hell ive seen dudes that look 2 times more built that couldnt do that shit

i guess that has alot to do with the roids the soviets used back in the day. i wonder if this serge redding guy is still alive

Those guys are rediculously strong!! Lifting them off the ground is one thing, but then pressing it overhead.... simply amazing!!!

But one thing i have to say. On this board, especially on the DC training thread, there has been a lot of talk like

"Powerlifters, when they diet down, are always generally bigger than bodybuilders and blow them away"

This is to emphasize that by getting strong, you will ALSO get big. Now, not to trivialize what these guys do, but they certainly don't look like they would be huge if they dieted down. I mean that last guy looked like he had small arms relative to a body builder even when he is all fatted up. I dont know about that all encompasing rule that strength will equate to size.

Huge lifts though!!!

Serge was Dutch, and he is not small - remeber these guys weren't drugged out to the extent Pro bodybuilders are these days. And I doubt they do much direct arm work.

I dunno Serge looks huge to me!

Serge was actually from Belgium. He was a librarian by occupation and died in his early thirties. And Alexeev eventually raised the press record to 521.25 lbs.

Wow! crazy stuff! I think the second guy showed you dont have to have great genetics to be sucessful with lifting...he is big, but isnt huge like the first.

my point exactly ive seen alot of studies and shit about eastern athletes how they dominated back in the day especially the female swimmers and now there all dead alot of this was around the 80's they talk about it well in Optimum sports nutrition

those countries didnt give a fuck about there athletes they juiced them to preform! they werent thinkiing muscle mass they were thinking "what drugs will make them lift the most!"
