Is the e-mail here at elite fitness secure? I know it's encrypted, but I was wondering if third parties couls still access it. Or even worse be handed over in the event of an investigation.

Elite, hush, & Cyber-rights all offer 100% Back to back secure total encryption.

Correct all the above are powered by hush encryption.

I dont think the question is encryption anymore as much as it is the safety of our email addresses. As i understand, hushmail has been given a subpoena to turn over whatever email accounts that DHS wants. So it doesnt really matter as much if your emails are encrypted anymore if the DHS is looking inside your email account already...

Department of Homeland Security. From those ive spoken to, that branch of the gov't is the one using the patriot act to issue the subpoenas to hushmail, etc. Thats why i've been kinda advocating cyber-rights as the only legitimately safe email now. C-R is a company located in the UK and uses servers in Canada. So from what i gather, they are the only secure email company thats completely out of the US govt's jurisdiction. In that way, those encrypted emails should theoretically be completely safe (unless the govt now knows how to crack 128bit encryption). But as far as hushmail is concerned, while they can offer safe sending options, they cant guarantee you that your email itself wont be given over to the government to monitor. Im fortunate in that im not a big poster. But for you guys who have a few thousand posts and/or are "in the know," i hope you dont have or use hush or hushmail addys. Cuz theres more than an average chance that your email address is being monitored while youre on it. So they can ready every email you send as far as i understand. And while this may seem far fetched at first, understand that this is really happening. Our government really IS reading emails of hushmail users...and they ARE targeting steroid sources and suspected sources. And if youre a big poster, they know to watch you for who you refer and what you say. Kinda paranoid and cryptic i guess, but sometimes the truth can be scary...especially when our government is involved

yeah sorry guys but secure, encrypted email is not really secure. Its secure in that it prevents a third party from intercepting your emails, for instance some random person that wants to see what your are writing in your emails, but it will not save you from big brother reading your emails and prosecuting you. If you wanna be secure use a VPN or a non-logging elite proxy server from a country that does not cooperate with the US, and connect through someone elses wireless network (aka war driving.) This is the only to be completely anonyamous. If your using your own home computer for business doing shady stuff, and think secure email is all you need to conceal your identity your are very mistaken.

I thought the Hush servers were outside of the USA and as they did not know or retrieve our passphrases then it was impossible for them to hand over anyway

As for cyber-rights i am not sure the server is here in the UK and if it was we have excellent relations wioth teh USA and sure if Mr Bush asked nicely then Mr Blair would give it to him so not something to rely on.

Can anyone confirm or deny some of the statements above?

"kinda paranoid and cryptic i guess" dude that is so true you are paranoid. you really need to relax. let me let you in on some things, first of all the gov would need a large amount of resources to be watching everyones e-mail and they don't really do that unless you are a big fish. second, if the gov wants to crack your e-mail they will find a way to get it done so fuck it. like i said if your a big fish then you have some shit to worry about but if you are a personl user then just drive on and live life.
