Left one was done today, was a little rougher than right shoulder. :(

Had to shrink cartilidge with heat and had torn cartilidge that was removed.

I hurt them through normal use of 20+ years of body building, etc. So structurally they are sound. Just needed some minor/major maintainance.

Thanks. Iwill be full bore again soon,

I've had 2 surgeries on my left shoulder, they ain't fun :(

At first my doc thought I had a torn labrum, so he did ortho and found a small tear...cleaned it up and sent me to P.T.

A few weeks later there was still no improvement, so I went back to the doc and he scheduled me for a MRI. That did the trick...torn rotator cuff and a moderate case of tendonitis.

As an interesting side note; both times I elected to have a nerve block done rather than go under full anesthesia (I ain't too keen on the whole intibation thing)...surgery #1 went without a hitch, the anesthesiologist found the nerve pretty quickly and numbed it up. Surgery #2 I wasn't so lucky...had a different anesthesiologist and he MISSED the nerve, wound up numbing my throat instead! :eek2: :worried: Little slice of hell on earth that was, lemme tell ya. I wasn't able to swallow or even cough after the surgery for about 8 hrs. I never wanna go through that again.

Anyhow, surgery #2 did the trick, no more shoulder problems, save for occasional pops & crackles.

Hope all goes well for you

To say it sucked would be a colossal understatement. I couldn't talk, but I could whisper...sorta.

The worst part was not being able to swallow or cough...my mouth was as dry as a popcorn fart right after the surgery, and even sucking on small ice cubes damn near choked me. The effects started to wear off after about 8 hrs, thank God.

I neglected to mention in my previous post that since they missed the nerve block, they did put me completely out and had to intibate me. If you've ever had to be intibated, you can imagine how miserable I was.

I wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy.

Wow......Cool.

You were intibated?!?

Is that like when I was in preschool and we intibated a bunch of baby eggs until they hatched??

Cool....how many baby chickens did you have?

:spit:

No, thankfully I wasn't incubated

I did mis-spell the word intubated tho...my bad.

im might be going for surgery soon.......been in PT for a month andits done nothing....going to the orthopedic and ill find out....physical therapists believes i might of torn my labrum.....hopef the recovery goes well

Thanks all. How did he miss the torn rotator cuff on the first surgery? I luv getting knocked out. I hate nerve blocks! Besides you are already out when they tube you and take it out. Pics coming soon.

No idea why he missed it the first time...just my luck I guess. :( (all the more reason I ain't too hip on doctors these days)

I'll take the nerve block over being knocked out any day of the week...although it was kinda creepy feeling that giant needle going into my neck (just above the clavicle). Once I got over that, it was no big deal. I was 100% within an hour after the first surgery, but it took a lot longer to shake off the anesthesia after surgery #2.

Hope all goes well with your shoulder. How did you injure yours? I messed mine up when I was in my early 20's doing upright rows with too much weight and too little form :insane:

i used to have tendenitis in my right shoulder but got rid of it after some physical therapy....so i was fine for about 2 years then end of august i decided to do seated overhead press for the first time in a long time and when i went to hook the weight, i missed the hook and it pull my arm far back, which became seperated after i released the weight....like an idiot i didnt go to the doctor, instead i rested it for 7 weeks and it felt great and i began lifting again for two weeks.....surprisingly i was lifting at 90% of what i used to and my shoulder felt good......then i went to play tennis one night with a professor of mine, and thought id ace him.....went up for a hard serve and i felt it come out and pop back in.......its been 5 weeks and its not any better.......i have my first orthopedic appointment next week and hopefully it goes well......im only 23 and dont want surgery already

Better surgery now than 20 years from now when the damage is irreperable.
