Wow.... Ya a strong one aren't ya :qt:

Awesome sweetie! Great pics thanks for sharing

Nice job. Very impressed.
BTW. You could cut your hair into the most bad ass mullet on this planet if you wanted. That would be cool!

Nice Scots! Is it cool if I copy this to the training forum? Teach those pussies about real lifting and men in sandals and socks

Sure go right ahead, I'll get you a pic of me in socks and sandals if you want.

Yeah hammy it was behind this little biker bar in Salina KS.

Slat- no mullets for me, my bro keeps trying to talk me into a reverse mullet, you know party up front business in the rear, but that sounds too much like a personal add for AAP.

Just kidding man.

Weightlifting and Strongman attract a great kind of individual. Everyone who leaves after competing feels like they also "won" because they put in a great performance, outdid their expectations of themselves, put it up to the other Bros, won a trophy, or just enjoyed the fun of competing. I love it!

A few years ago as a newbee I broke my 500pound duck on a deadlift and only did it was because each and everyone of my competitors was roaring me on to do it from the second I grabbed that bar! I'll treasure that memory forever.

Not that I was staring at your ass or anything. :qt:

As with everyone else that posted on this thread, amazing job Scots!!

If you were third, I would hate to see the first and second place dudes.

Keep it up though, big man, you have a lot going for you!

Alright Scotsman! I like the Strongest Man Comp...All strength and technique, and you either lift it or you don't. No judging, no politics, just a bunch of strong motherfuckers fighting it out!

Nice job bro. Sweet pics.

Looks like a fun time.

Did anyone get all the stones?

No, nobody loaded the fifth stone, one guy came close but lost his grip on the stone as he was trying to place it. The heat caused the sticky stuff that you put on to break down and it gets kind of slick so the stone just slid on him.

Damn Scots what have you been eating? Looking a little lean in those pics :)

Just kidding great pics. And people are impressed when I carry the MWD to the catwalk. It weighs about as much as one of your shoes.

When is the next contest?

Heard it was a fun contest and a HOT one at that.

How did you feel about your performance and what do you need to work on from here?

Any other contests coming up?

Bfold and Scots -

Some peeps I know (friends of friends type of thing)

Are going to have a strongman contest up in AZ maybe in September... I guess ESPN news contacted NASS headquarters about wanting to promote a show out there and doing something with the winners at a halftime show at a cardinals game.......

I think they are looking at multiple weight classes as well...

I don't know all the details, but if either of you want I could get you the email of someone who will be in the know as things develop.

PRO Nationals is in July I do believe...in Las Vegas. NASS Nationals would be about the only NASS show that I'd think was REALLY ESPN worthy.

Getting ESPN to work with you takes a small miracle since their "show" is with TWI and the WSM.

I try to stay as far away as I can from getting my head stuck out there with the NASS stuff. Quite often if you try to help or offer advice...the people in charge will quickly bite your head off.

I'm not that involved. This stuff is all beyond me. Anyways, I will keep the board posted if a contest does come together just in case you guys know anyone who would be interested.

Yeah topped 100 degrees during the show.

My performance was soso. I need to work on grip strength, and overall core strength aside from trying to get all around stronger. I also am in the process of making an atlas stone should be about 270lbs, if it turns out well I am going to make a set of 6-7 to practice with. I also need to get some more of the implements so I can train with them more and get used to them.

Probably not going to compete until late july or early august, I went to a local show to check it out and the guys are going to do at least 2 maybe 3 more shows in colorado so that'll be nice so I don't have to travel as far.

Met Mike Wortham he was really cool, along with some of the new pros that were there helping Willy out. Willy was also at the one this past weekend in Colorado and we kind of laughed telling the guys about how hot it was.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Mike Wortham is for sure one of my best friends....and VERY strong. I know he said he had a BAD day that day...mostly because he wasn't prepared for the heat.

Yeah Mike was awesome he and I sat in the back of the bar between events where it was cool. I mentioned that I knew you off the net and he told me you guys were friends and talked almost daily.

He finished third in the SHW, came down to the car pull and he had to finish 2nd to win but got third and they were all within a point and a half of each other going into the last event. It was so hot that the resin that was on the stones from the previous competitors had turned to snot so it was hard to grip them.

I know I lost at least four pounds in water weight from the start to end of the comp, and I was drinking water/gatorade as fast as I could without upsetting my stomach.

Scotsman

Thanks Smurfy and Ul it was lots of fun. Probably going to do 2 maybe 3 more this year, and I will do better and train harder.
