Scammer Check--MOD's please help

I have 2 sources that I'm trying to verify as good before I try to deal with them. I have of course checked this whole site for their names before I sent this. My question, is there a way to check with any or all of the mods to explore the legitimacy of these sources (to the best knowledge of the mods). What is the procedure for this?
