I think that finding Mark McGwire using corked bats would be an equally large story. I hope so.

I am wondering how many other players threw out their "good" bats after this came about?
And of course I also wonder this: Baseball fucking sucks. Especially after the strike. Even though I supported the strike. Anyways, baseball is capable of generating millions upon millions of dollars. But not if no one is enjoying it. What better way to hand Mark and Sammy a couple cork bats and start knocking balls out the park and give people a reason to watch again. Thats the scam in my opinion.

Look at the big Picture..
When Baseball was at its lowest point due to Strikes, the one thing that revived the game was this home-run contest. Do you think the owners and a couple players could have got together to work something out here. After all, without fans, both parties end up major loosers.

Ever picked up a corked bat. They feel light... really light. You can't pick one up without noticing it isn't like a regular bat.
How could a pro ball player who batted every day not notice he was picking up a light bat?

The corked bat incident was bad, but what about all the juice that guys like McGwire, Conseco and Caminiti were one? Using AAS gives your body a "corked bat" everytime you go to hit, REGARDLESS of whether or not your bat is corked. Why risk corking your bat, when you can just shoot up some test?

As far as corked bats go...didn't I hear that they tested 70 of his bats and that was the only one that was corked. Having used a corked bat at practice before it feels the same. Not saying it was an honest mistake...but it could have been.

They say people who have gotten a DWI had done it many many times before and gotten away with it. While this is IMO mostly true, many often claim it was there first time making the mistake of drinking and driving.
So with that analogy, you gotta think did he actually use the bat many many times before this.
If you're a pro baseball player risking something like this, you would think you'd be smart enough to look ahead and plan a good story in case something like breaking a bat happened.
So the best way to plan a good explanation would be to only have one corked bat at a time. If you get caught you make it look exactly like Sammy has done.
