I thrive off new things and am generally a very open minded person. I may have not been in enough relationships to really know which I prefer more.

A little of each. If someone is just like you, it gets too boring. If someone is too opposite, then it just seems like a whole hell of a lot of work to understand it and adapt to it. I like to "know" my environment, but I also like new things and challenges to keep it interesting.

Interests can be the same with a bit of variety in the specifics of it. Example: If she's into the same sports, but has a different favorite team.

i don't think its the interests that matter as much as the personality types that compliment eachother.
if my guy was really into golf (which i've never played), that would be cool as long as
a. i was willing to try it.
b. he was willing to be patient
OR
if i had an interest that he didn't and we both did ours respectively at complimentary times and no conflict ensued.

For me it's basically about habits. If I don't smoke, she can't. Hate chicks who smoke. Their hair and clothes reek. If she don't drink, that might be a problem for her(not me). Basically as long as we share the same habits, or accept the others, the rest can be worked out.
