Safety squat machine, opinions?

if you're wondering what I'm talking about - some injury limitations are preventing me from doing too much squat work right now (I'm good for maybe one set before the pain kicks my ass) and I find this machine lets me work my legs without too much glute pain

has anyone had any expereince using it, and was there any transfer to the real lifts? It's not locked into any plane of motion but the hand rails are kinda tempting to cheat with :o
 
i never seen such a device, lol...

but i think id rather do the smith vs the saftey

glute pain, thats weird, howd that come about

i guess use w/e doesnt hurt u. if u can change ur form on a machine so ur glutes are not activated as much, thats a good thing
 
I've seen safety squat bars before. Of course there is no substitute for a squat, but a SS bar isn't all bad. The hand placement and the way the weight is distributed allow you to handle more weight than you squat. I've never personally used one, butI have a friend who is a 700+ squatter and he swears by SS bar squats as part of a ME rotation in a WSB-inspired training approach.

As far a a SS machine, I am totally unfamiliar with it, even looking at the pic, but an injury is an injury and you need to do whatever your body allows you to while you heal. I can't see doing them long-term having carry-over due to the nature of a SS bar, but if your core is a strength and squatting is a natural movement for you, then they just might help you....in any event, it is important to work around an injury as best you can and make the most of it without hurting yourself worse.

same here. the PL lifters use it @ my gym that have had injuries on regular squats or rehabbing old injuries. i dont think anyone else knows what it is :rolleyes:
