safety of cleans

i just started doing cleans, am enjoying them, and am cleaning about my body weight (~180lbs). i do them after my overhead bb presses and deadlifts, so my whole body is very warmed up. a lot of "knowledgeable" people seem to think that any moves that require any momentum are "of the devil."

i'm curious what everyone's thoughts are on the safety of cleans and whether the "risks" justify the benefits.

I have been doing cleans for years and have never suffered any type of injury from them. I also go fairly heavy. Usually do 6 sets of 3-5 reps. Its a good idea to do them first, before your deads and OH press. I do them on Leg day before squats. Cleans are a must for athletes.
