running intervals vs.......

What do u guys think about running intervals(1 minute sprinting, 1 min walking) for 30 minutes total vs a good pace for entire session....I always keep my HR @75-80% it just seems to do more for me when I do intervals....any info and exp. would be greatly appreciated.....

I like intrervals also, U burn more calories in less time, but i get really bad shin splints when I run so alternate... but if your looking to get ripped i think intervals is the best...
 
I have been doing this with my heart rate monitor....so I can make sure my hr is is moving up and down...I love it
 
What is the goal?

When training for races, we never do it quiet like that. It's more likely 2 minutes relatively hard (not all out) and one minute easy (NOT walking). Sometimes the intervals change.

What you are actually somewhat describing isn't really an interval but a fartlek.
 
That word always makes me laugh....I m just trying to build endurance so I can run the entire time

fartlek = funny.....fartlick = not so much.
