Rugby Player Sustanon Use.

I'd love to know what the usage of AAS in rugby is since the game went professional

I would guess virtually all the players juice - it's one of those sports where raw strength & mass is essential (esp for forwards)

i played pro up until 2yrs ago and believe me the amount of pro's using is high no matter what they say......hell the boys are making enough dough to buy what they called blockers which i really thought were myths but i guess they must be true because none of them tested positive..........!!!!
i still outplayed them clean!!

Now that you mention it, A couple of months ago I was in the same changing rooms in a Sports Centre as a prominent Heineken European Cup team who were doing some Pre season prep. Some of them had amazing physiques. I mean amazing. You really wonder whats going on.

I mean, I'm a Hull supporter in Rugby League, and these's boys (the Union players) absolutely dwarfed them. Of course good training, nutrition, being a full-time athlete, genetics, and an aray of Sports advisors could be a huge reason, but the intensity of the game and their physiques make me wonder. Went to a Union game a few weeks ago to see the intensity....and fuck me!!!

I know for a fact that they are using. I think the usual procedure is that they get them on the gear early, like under 20. Before they are subject to the strict first team drug tests.
Also I don't think the senior teams get tested in the off season so a cycle of some fast acting gear could be completed then.

A freind of mine played at junior level with one the current young Welsh backs. (i wont mention any names) He reckons he was juicing at 18 which would explain that when he started playing senior rugby at 19/20 he was more developed and stronger than most of the players 8/9 years older than him.

That said, the game is proffesional now and much more emphasis is put on nutrition and conditioning. That would explain a fair bit of the difference in physiques between now and 10 years ago.

Most amateur rugby players seem to be into drinking as much as they are the rugby!
I've yet to see any players actually doing things in the gym that are appropriate to their sport.

That is 100% true mate. Rugby boys love the beer and the majority of amatures dont train other than twice a week at rugby training.

I dont understand the second part though? Surely any strenght work will help on the pitch? A lot of the more serious amature rugby boys I know do mainly power compound movments, squats, deads, bench etc I think this would help, especially in the forwards.

rugby guys sure do juice,I played on a 19 and under team a few years ago and this one kid was 17 and 5'8 and a lean 210 with 30 inch fucking legs.no way anyone is that big/lean that young

I'm a certified strength coach and I cringe at the routines that I see the kids from the local uni rugby team doing, perscribed by their coaches.

Most rugby players just do basic strength stuff, which is better than nothing, however they could do so much better. College football players get so much more attetion put into their training and are much stronger in the gym.

Also, squats, deads, benches, etc are not power as much as strength movements. Cleans, snaches, jump squats, cheat curls - now thats power movements.

Bump.
Your first point from earlier on..... If drinking was illegal in sport, practically anyone I ever played with at Colts a few years ago would be still serving suspensions!!

As for Rugby players having a poor grasp of weight training, I couldn't agree more. That same Union team in The European Cup I mentioned earlier had a load of guys doing Squats without reaching parallel, using the cable row, and then to finish off their Bullshit, they then decide to have a go at the fucking leg-press!!

guys no offence but in the uk the only teams that take their rugby serious are the national 1 and premier division teams and i speak from experience when playing over there, the guys in the lower divs only care about getting pissed....im from s.a just to fill you in and here rugby players from club level through to national get tested.
like i said there are those players that really amazed me at how they never ever tested positive but hey no evidence, no crime, no time!!!!

Oh right, and AAS doesn't exist in SA Rugby at all? There's just as much testing here as in The Southern Hemisphere. But, to be honest, I don't think the world of rugby takes testing serious anyhow. I'd love to know how many times each member of every international squad had been tested in the past 12 months. Maybe 1/2 the squad were tested once at most.
