Rubber in Vial

As you use a vial and eat up the rubber stopper what do you guys do if you get some rubber in the vial? I've heard of people saying that they can see little particles of rubber floating around in their vial after they have used their vial for a while.

What would happen if a person accidentally drew one of these particles up and injected it?

If that did happen that would be a great way to get an infection. Bad news all around. I've had small pieces of rubber in the vial before and had it drawn up into my syringe. The thing is with how I do it, I use an 18g to draw and usually a 23g or 25g to inject with those pieces would be to large to go through the 23/25g needle. The only time I had that happen I let that little bastard float to the bottom and then pushed it out. I wasnt gonna take the chance.

How do you know the piece would be to big to go through the needle?

Good point, I dont, but in my experience when i've had pieces of a stopper in a vial it was a good size chunk broken off by a 18g pin. Thats why in my better judgement I just got that sucker out of there, but with a 23-25g pin its gotta be a pretty small piece of stopper. I'd have to think if it was able to pass thru the pin, you'd be hard pressed to notice it in the syringe in the first place.

use a 20g or 21g to draw with. youll have alot less problems because, although only slighter smaller than that harpoon youve been drawing with, it doesnt make as big of a punch hole.

what i would do if you already have some rubber in there is get a watman(sp?) filter and filter it into another clean vial. if some rubber already got in there the more is bound to come after it.

That is kind of scary to think about accidentally injecting a piece of the rubber stopper into your body. I wonder what would happen.

possibly infection followed by a doc inserting metal instruments into your body to remove it

I use a 23 to draw and shoot. Never have a problem. Also Most 10ml and even 20ml vials should not give you any problems. Its the big ass 30ml and up ones you have to worry about. I often take them ones and split them up into 10ml vials.

Yep I've only had those problems with 40ml and 50ml vials. I usually draw up a week or twos worth of what I need at one time to lessen the amount of times I poke the stopper. If you doing ED shots and drawing for your shots everyday your bound to have this problem happening at some point.
