Rotator cuff pain & bench

My shoulder/rotator cuff periodically gets sore as hell. When it does, it's always after benching. I really don't want to stop benching, and a lot times, the shoulder doesn't bother me. But it pounces on me at random times, it seems to me.

I do various rotator cuff exercises. I back off benching for a couple weeks or more when the pain strikes. These all help the pain go away, for awhile at least, but it never seems to go away permanently.

Is there any exercise I can do, or shouldn't do (besides bench) that can help? I really can't use a bench shirt or get surgery.

did you get an x ray?
well anyways i have the same problem but mine is from scar tissue that built up from me not laying off long enough... try laying off longer...just because your shoulder feels ok doesnt mean it is ok and dont do any rotator cuff exercises unless you know thats what it is...if it is inflamed and you do toughs exercises its just going to aggravate it
rest, ice, compression (ace bandage) and take ibuprofen for the inflammation (i take 800mg) but dont just go on my word

see your doctor

Thank you for your advice. You're right of course I should see a doctor; but in the meantime I need to rely on as much common sense as I can. I think the single best thing, as you suggest, is simply to back off for a longer time. Which truly sucks. But at least that'll give me opportunity to get stronger at everything else.
