my 2 cents of pro knowledge
About almost 5 years ago now I lived in Redondo Beach, CA and worked out at the Gold's in Redondo as well as the Mecca itself. To make a long story short some of the pro's found out that I was a biochemist and worked for a pharmaceutical company. Needless to say I had some instant friends. I won't name names because it's not needed. But the two I was closest with (that I really believe would tell me the truth about their drug usage, etc..) told me what they used, even asked my scrawny ass about what they should be doing (actually I was a Div. 1, defensive back, 6'1'-215 about 4% bodyfat when I arrived at the Mecca). Both were IFBB pro's, neither are still competing today.
Having said all of this both pro's varied widely in what they used in dosages. Here's their breakdown:
Bodbuilder 1: Truely a nice guy and hard worker. His cycles would be something along the lines of 500mg/test week and maybe 30mg/dbol/day (or equivalent) and than maybe a little winny before a show. But it amazed me at how little he used for his size(about 240 contest) and how simple his plan was, no GH, slin, thyroid. I've seen newbies on here with more complex cycles. I remember asking him if he'd ever done fina (remember this was 5 years ago right when fina was really starting to take off),and he didn't even know what it was. But this guy was more focused in the gym than anybody I've ever seen. And his meals were planned weeks in advance and he never went anywhere without his cooler of food. Without juice he'd look better than 99% of the people on this board just purely on genetics, and more importantly his focus and determination to stick with it day in day out. He was 24 before he did any juice. I still remember him giving me shit because he saw me doing the same weight on squats I was doing a month earlier, said "if you're not getting stronger you're not going to grow, add some weight". And he didn't say it in a macho way. I still think back at this guy and wish I had his focus, determination, and discipline. And I saw this guy's bloodwork more than once and it was spotless and he looked great (hair, skin, etc..) His plan was simple: eat right all the time, train hard every workout, sleep..do this day in day out for a few years and you'll be a big mofo. He did juice to get that last 10-15lbs. that gave him his pro card. But to this day he always makes me think-am I putting everything I can into my training, eating right every day, resting; not just for a few weeks but for months/years. If i'm not, than why am I sticking this needle in my ass, taking risks, etc..But I still do....
Bodybuilder 2: Nice guy one on one but in a group kind of an a-hole. He did 2 grams of test a week year around, rotating orals, and other injectables that probably totalled right around 3 grams/total a week. Really whatever he could get his hands on, no real planning. He also did GH & slin, but don't know the dosages to be honest, probably whatever he could afford. But this guy didn't train that hard, partied alot, and did alot of rec. drugs. And up close his hair, skin looked awful (can't imagine what they look like today). His balls were also about the size of peanuts, I was sitting on the couch and he just drops the shorts and goes does that look infected-referring to an upper thing injection. But he was about the same size/placings as bodybuilder #1 above, he made up for his lack of discipline with more drugs. But I'll bet bodybuilder #1 is living a healthy, happy life today with a body to die for (in fact I know he is), Number 2, bald, acne scarred skin, no nuts, leather face is all I can think of.
This was not meant to be so lengthy but hopefully some new guys and the old guys will remember that dedication day in day out means everything to the 99% of us not as genetically gifted and that more juice may not be the answer...as much as I wish it was. Now get back in the gym, have a protein shake, get some sleep.....
