Roman Empire Advises US
ISTANBUL - The last remnants of the Roman Empire made a rare press statement Tuesday offering assistance to the United States in its war with Ussama bin Laden and the Al-Qaeda group.
Septimus Magnus issued the statement in the name of Cesar Grupo, current head of the Eastern Empire Foundation (EEF). The foundation is the last remaining governmental department of the Byzantine Empire tracing its roots back to the united Roman Empire.
"We've had experience with these kinds of things," said Magnus. "We've dealt with terrorists in the Palestinian region wuite often. We knoe what can happen when a man in the desert starts a revolt against a large empire. Our advice, don't crucify him."
The EEF claims a unique perspective not only on Palestinian affairs, but Islamic confrontations with Christians as well.
"We faced Islamic invaders for hundreds of years and had to face down bloodthirsty papists as well. Crusaders sacked our capital so we know both sides of this story. Nobody else can claim that," stated Magnus.
The Foundation existed in secret for hundreds of years during Ottoman rule but has reached a measure of peaceful co-existence with Turks over the past few decades.
An official invitation to President Bush to consult with Cesar Grupo was dispatched by messenger today. He is expected to arrive in Washington, DC, sometime in February.
