Rib Cook Off....I placed 4th.

I just entered my first Rib Cook Off and I placed 4th out of 8. Not bad If I say so myself. My ribs are not your typical BBQ (tomato based) sauce. Mine is a white sauce. Made with Mayo. I had the most unsual ones there, evryone seemd to like them a whole bunch. There weren't any of mine left, but the winner has several of hers left ...I cant figure that one out. It was a lot of fun, i will be doing it again next year, after I work on my recipe some more.
Just thought I would tell you about it ....we love to do things like that here in the south.

i don't even want to think of your white sauce ingredients...bleh!
Keep it clean, get your mind out of the gutter... :qt: It's very simple. Mayo, salt, pepper, lemon juice and dejon mustard. It has to sit for 24 hours before you can even taste it. If you taste it right away it's pretty awfull stuff.

Describe to me how you cooked them, por favor. Unless it's a trade secret.

The white BBQ sauce is baffling me. Wouldn't the sauce seperate if it is mayonnaise based? Well, yes it would so I guess my question is WTF?

Not a trade secret at all.....my marinade is simple too...
1 cup of white vinegar
1 cup of lemon juice
1/2 cup worstersauce
mix well...let it set for for at least 1 hour before you put it over your ribs or chicken. Let stand over night in the fridge.

I baked my ribs in a 210 degree oven till my ribs were tender, covered with foil. I turned them about every 30 mins.

BBQ White Sauce
1 quart of mayo
1 cup of white vinegar
1 cup of lemon juice
1.25 cup of salt
1.25 cup of black pepper
1 lg. heaping spoonfull of dejon mustard
Mix well let stand in fridge for at least 24 hours.

Once they were ready, I put them on the grill on a very low heat, off set side of the grill. I use foil to keep them from burning. Coated each side with my sauce, kind of heavy. Once it was absorbed I turned the ribs, and repeated the same proceedure. I did this twice on each side. it's that simple.
I have found the more you coat the ribs, and turn them, the sauce will form a crust, but it tends to get salty, but we like them that way.

There you go...they are not your usual BBQ sauce.

Thanks for asking about them.
