Last night I caught the premier of Showtime's new series "Out of Order"
I was blown away. I'm hooked. I will watch every week.
The series is scheduled for Showtime channel, Mondays at 10pm.
The show is in the class of "Thirty-Something" or "Once and Again".
The series revolves around the marraige of two successfull Hollywood screen writers.
The couple have been happily married for 16 years, with a wonderfull soccer playing son.
Nice car, nice house, nice friends...but there's trouble in paradise.
The wife is battling clinical depression, agravated by alcohol, pot and pills.
It seems part of her depression is the result of being sexually molested as a child,
a fact known but ignored by her parents at the time.
The husband is battling having to live with an alcoholic spouse, her moods,
lack of productivity, and the isolation he feels.
He turns to a fellow "soccer mom" for friendship, which leads to a fling in a motel room.
Well done full nudity fits the situation and stops just short of soft porn.
The series has excellent dialog, plot, acting, pulling no punches with a wide variety of real life problems and situations.
The basic theme of the show:
The people around you....you know, the ones that drive you crazy....
Give 'em a break. They're doing the best they can.
