Reverse hypers

I did them for the first time in years today and they felt friggin' awesome!! I wasn't doing them b4 cuz they don't have an apparatus for that where i train. But the other day i saw a guy doing them on the regular hyper, jus facing the other way. i had to bend my legs at the knee but i still got some great stimuli from it. Anyway, how important are they to you as far as training goes? And if you don't have a rev. hyper mach., how do you manage to do them?

Agreed. When I competed reverse hypers were a cornerstone exercise. They will help not only develop your erectors, but I always felt they sort of adjusted my back everytime I did them. Great rehabilitator also, Louie invented it after a back injury if I remember my history correctly. :bigbuck:

Ya know, i did feel a lot of stuff goin' on there, outside of muscle pump. Felt like it was adjusting itself.

Def. Awsome.
I used to do them with a dumbell between my feet on the regular hyperextension, or roman chair, but facing the other way.
Got up to 115lbs dumbell.
we dont even have a roman chair at my gym anymore though :(

We don't have a glute ham raise or reverse hyper at my gym either. We've been using our bands (green or blue) that we use for bench and squat on DE days. Choke off your band and face backwards on the hyper bench/roman chair with the band around your ankles, keep feet together and raise them up against the band tension. Works really well.

I'll definitely give that a shot.

Unfortunately my gyms hyper bench is crap. Is there any other method for doing reverse hypers? Perhaps a way of building one? I'm very handy with wood.

i think there is a link in this forum, i know u could at least get a look at one and go from there.............

Without a doubt, if you train for strength or even not, reverse hypers do wonders for you. Doesn't quite sub for massage therapy, and the chiro, but along with helping develop your erectors, I am a firm believer that they have therapuetic purpose. :)

Thank you for that tip. We have a G/H, but no reverse hyper. We tried to do them off the g/h bench, but couldn't seem to manage to get the feel.

Thats the problem. I don't have access to one anymore. I would need a close up and detailed look. I'm actually going to go check out a golds over by my work. I expect it to be hardcore compared to my LA Fatness.

I have this GHR, it works ok for rev. hypers, but light weight or bodyweight work only. low investment to have a GHR and some ability to do some therapeutic rev. hypers.

stack 2 flat benches on each other, put a pad under your pelvis if you are still not high enough, have someone hold one end and you can add weight/plates to your feet/ankles for added weight. can be uncomfortable but i've seen it work
