Report: Steroids Sold On Internet-----Interesting Read

Here's a short follow-up to this article.

Cracking Down on Illegal Steroid Use Easier Said Than Done

(AXcess News) New York -

A recent report by the US General Accounting Office reveals that investigators easily obtained anabolic steroids without a prescription through the Internet. After conducting Internet searches, they found hundreds of Web sites offering anabolic steroids commonly used by athletes and bodybuilders for sale.

The investigators then used an e-mail account in a fictitious name to place 22 orders. From these orders, they received 10 shipments of anabolic steroids; all were shipped from foreign countries. They also received 4 shipments from within the United States but the substances they contained, though marketed as anabolic steroids or other "muscle building" products, were not anabolic steroids according to the Food and Drug Administration.

As a result of the investigation, they are referring the evidence concerning the purchases to the Drug Enforcement Administration and to FDA for appropriate action. The officials claim that most anabolic steroids sold illegally in the United States come from abroad, and that the Internet is the most widely used means of buying and selling anabolic steroids illegally.

They also reported that, because of the foreign origin of the steroids and the widespread use of the Internet in steroid trafficking, extensive time and resources are usually required to investigate and prosecute steroid cases. The sheer volume of all types of imports from abroad presents significant challenges in efforts to prevent anabolic steroids from illegally entering the United States. In addition, some officials noted the relatively low sentences that result from application of the federal sentencing guidelines to persons convicted of illegal steroid trafficking.

Computers aid steroid distributors in avoiding detection by law enforcement, and penalties are much lighter than for those caught with many other illegal drugs, according to the GAO report.

Steroids build muscle but can lead to heart attacks, strokes, cancer, sterility and mood swings. The use of most steroids without a doctor's prescription has been illegal since 1991. Accusations of steroid use among Major League Baseball players ignited congressional and media scrutiny.

The GAO report found there are hundreds of websites offering anabolic steroids. The anonymity of the Internet makes dealers difficult to find. "Internet sites can be installed, moved, or removed easily and quickly, making it difficult for law enforcement agencies to identify, track, monitor, or shut them down," the report said.

This article says to me that they are going to crack down on steroids....the easy cases to bust. The ones on the internet selling from other countries require too much work to bust. But we will continue to bust all the dumb asses that drive around with gear in their car or distribute steriods while pretending to be a DEA agent.

I also love how they state that the items that were from the US were NOT steriods...."Don't worry Mom and Dad voter the drugs we got from here in the US were not real. So we are doing a great job here in the good ole USA. Its all the other countries that are the bad ones."

Hey, I was just going to post that same article! My workout buddy lives in CT during the week and subscribes to the Courant...
Here is another article from that newspaper that you have to read... apparently a reporter went "undercover" and went through the process of getting gear online... he started by registering on steroids.com and starting by making friends, asking questions and getting info... (sound familiar??).... What gets me is that his facts are wrong.... He accounts step-by-step his ordering process online, shipping details, how the stuff is packaged.... It really pisses me off that something like this could set us all back..... :chomp:

His facts were wrong a few times. Sust causing liver problems??? Track athletes using deca because it leaves the system fast, lmao. Deca is one of the the longest esters and longest detection time.

Beachbum1546 Here's another gem, "Clenbuterol, a drug often selected by first-time users because it builds bulk quickly."

I was thinking the same thing, "deca for track stars and clen for bulking" So I've had it wrong this whole time. Fucking moron.

These fucking idiots are fighting a losing battle. People want it... they will get it. Have you ever seen Harry Waxman? This cocksucker looks like he has not got laid since the Nixon administration. No wonder he is pissed.

Also, I wish McCain would fucking die of cancer. This piece of shit has wreaked more havoc than any of them... from shutting down the UFC for a period of time, to leading the Anabolic assault. These fuck heads should try fixing social security rather than worry if someone has bigger biceps than them.

Our tax dollars hard at work on this investigation, lol!

My sentiments exactly! There's friggin wars going on in Iraq and Asscrackistan and these fucking morons are concerned with cleaning up sports. If they really wanted to clean up sports so that they portray a positive image to our yutes, they ought to start by strangling Terrell Owens. . .what a fucking douche bag.
