Replace Dips

I am doing the 5x5 SF. Weight selection for the 'Weighted Dips' is a problem as i have to use a relatively low weight, but those wont clip onto the dipping belt.

So, what exercise is best to do instead of dips?

nothin dips is superior along with incline bench and flat bench

try using dumbell in between ur thighs that works

You can add weight by putting weights in a back-pack and putting the back-pack on when doing dips. I had to do this for a few weeks cus the dip belts at my gym were broken. So I would weigh myself first, then weight myself with the back-pack on...usually a few pound differnce. Finally, add the neccessary amount of weight.

Buy some 1/4" rope frome the hardware store. Make a loop just big enough to go around the biggest part of the dumbell. Then hang the cord from the belt. This will allow you to use down to a 1lb dumbell.

Shouldn't really be an issue. I've seen guys hang up to 90lb dumeblls between their legs surely a 5lb dumbell wil be fine clutched by your thighs just above the knee.

What sort of gym do you go to, dipping 40kg is crazy. Are these guys human, animal or robots?

does your gym have a dip machine?

LOL!

Cheers it's not so much, I use a belt and 2 45's or 41kg for sets of 5.

The heavist I've seen is Nasser doing 4 x 45's (plus his 21stone bodyweight!)

Just hook a db with your feet. If its that light it wont be a problem

Agreed...I've done ten easy reps with 2 plates on there, and I'm not even strong compared to most of the monsters on this site.

Before I had a dip belt, I would just cross my legs and put a dumbell just above my feet. My hamstrings would start to spasm once I got up to around 60-70 pounds so then it might be time to get a real belt.

Yes, when i use it with weight equal to or lower than my body weight it is too easy (as in i have to use no effort at all), and when i use weight more than my body weight i cant get it (the platform) too move.

dips can be subbed for declines imo. I LOVE dips, even as a scrawny 170lb beginner I could do reps with 135 on my waist so it's with great shame that I can no longer do them (shoulder problems, hopefully temp, caused by 'safe' hammer strength machines)

I've been thinking of subbing decline for dips bc my gym lacks a dip belt and I am not getting anything out of 150 BW dips.

I don't want to, but I think in order to get enough weight and stimulation I might have to.

declines have way more carryover to the flat bench than dips, along with less shoulder stress (for me at least) so dont be afraid to swap... do them close gip if you want to simulate a dipping motion more

You are probably not 'clipping' them in right or wearing the weight belt right.

Just run the chain through the eye of the weight (use a barbell weight) and let the belt rest around your waist. This way you can easily slip it on and off between sets (that's when I get a drink of water).

Personally, instead of using a weight belt I use my penis.
