Rep speed & interval training

Ok guys,

My two questions have nothing really do with one another, so I figure I'll ask both of them in one thread and hopefully get them cleaned up.

1.) Someone told me recently that interval training for cardio works a lot better than regular, as in 9 minutes of cardio (sprinting and whatnot) will be better than riding the bike for 30-45 minutes, etc. Is this true?

2.) Also, my second question relates somewhat to DC training. What works out your muscles more: doing your reps very slowly to get the burn and having to use less weight, or doing them quickly and using more weight?

Thanks everyone..

1) yes

2) Well as far as normal training goes, the later, you want to recruit your high threshold fibers. You either use heavy weights or moderate weights, both pushed as hard as you can.

i agree - the goal of DC is to take the muscle to absolute failure with heavier weights
