Red Lobster

Behemoth

Aberration
Platinum
I spent the first 22 years of my life eating the best food that can be found on the planet...

Then I moved to culinary Hell. The food in Arkansas is real comparable to the bottom of your shoe.

Tonight I took my wife to Red Lobster for her birthday...keep in mind...I'm in Arkansas...not a lot of choices.

The food was ok. But it just really worries me eating seafood in Arkansas.

There is NO SEA anywhere around.... :worried:

Time to get your gas grill fired up, get the best cuts of meat, the best spices and whip up your own stuff! No one, but NO ONE beats my steak & lobster!

bor, i don't even wanna here that noise. Michigan, by far has the shiitiest tasting or tasteless food on the planet. they don't even know how to make fucking hot dogs here. and red lobster is considered among the "let's go somewhere nice tonight" places.

I would have much rather stayed home and cooked...

Excellent Cook. I have been cooking original Louisiana cuisine since I was 11.

But there wasnt a mall in back yard....so the wife said the grill was out of the question.

I feel like I live on an Island now...

I have heard horror stories about living in ND

red lobster is just glorified fast food. some of their dishes are just down right ugly and shisty.

their cole slaw is very sweet, and in my opinion, good. their herb biscuits are good, and their grilled fish w/ vegetables are good. I guess the lobster, is good.

....alright place, but for the most part....eh.

Forget Louisiana cuisine...you live in Arkansas, the specialties are deer, fish, beef, and chicken...never order fish at a steak house or vice versa...

I have to admit. The deer meat is incredible. And a guy I knew gave me a pork roast from a wild hog he had killed...it was down right incredible.

say what u want about la - we have good seafood places. whether u want fancy 5 star, or right at the port, fresh from the fishing boat, type fish eateries.

Are you from God's country...

I'm originally from Lake Charles...

lol @ red lobster being a nice place to go, I'd honestly rather hit up a denny's.

The only thing worth of note at Red Lobster are the biscuits, but you better be bulking if you are eating those.

They freeze pretty much ALL of their seafood and ship it. The one exception is the life lobster which is usually overpriced and the lobsters are small anyway.

Even in Toledo we have one decent seafood place I can speak for, down at the docks. The only thing I like about Red Lobster are the biscuits.

Thats what I was thinking...I passed by a Popeyes and was really wishing we had ate their.

The food was good enough. However, when you are accustom to fresh seafood...anything less sucks.

I had it really bad when I lived in S. Florida. You'd think the seafood restaurants would be the best -- except the stuff I ate was so fresh I knew who shot it or caught (often me!) on what reef at what time of day that day.

I want you guys and gals to feel this. This is the true life and times of Tony Johnson.
I have learned that you NEVER fight a situation that you know in your heart is not working. Don't fight the feeling , just leave!!!!
This includes your situation with your SO. If he is treating you bad , then simply leave him. Do not play games or go behind his back. Tell him to his face that he is a loser and deal with it.

Red Lobster's don't survive in New Orleans because they are SHIT seafood. Noone who knows what seafood tastes like will eat there and I would not pay for anything that they cooked becuase it is sub par. Infact it is so sub par that I have a hard time understanding how they keep growing and opening stores nation wide

They are the bottom of the barrel folks and they should not be visited ANYWHERE...

And certainly don't work there...

Nah....it has to do with seals and Canada. But I won't go into it because it will just make a certain group here freak out for the next 3 months..lol...people can't handle seals around here.

I think Red Lobster serves horrible seafood though....The best seafood I ever had was in Washington State...fresh and yummy.

By the way, I hope your migraines are better. :)

Oh my god, you disgusting animal.

You make me sick.

*opens can of tuna with a satiate grin at the widespread marine death it has caused*

since when is operating a deep fryer considered cooking? everything they have there would give me a stroke. btw - I  Seals. my last date was a seal, took her to a sushi bar. boy was that guy mad.
and my migraines have stopped after a med switch, but i'm detoxing hard right now, so i sleep most of my off time. or i'm here, but these guys are pretty lame, lately. i think i might have to pull something drastic, like in The Outsiders. i'm taking Johnnny & Ponyboy & we're going on the run. screw you Socs'!!!

i feel so lucky to live where i live, we have fucking great food. I eat fresh sushi all the time, great indian food, thai food, mexican, its awesome.

Is the "Khyber Pass" Afghan restaurant still there? Or did 9-11 kill it?

P.F. Chang's is pretty good. If you like Chinese.

As far as Seafood though....uhhhhh.....

It's still a toss up as to which coast has better seafood. Some nice hole in the wall joints with quality seafood in both Oregon and Maine.

"Soooo are we ready to order?"

"Not quite, but could you please bring out some more biscuits?"

"Surrrre!"

Yeah but so is Red Lobster. There are good hole in the wall places for American food in MI, but most people wouldn't know because well, they're holes in the walls.

i have a frame of reference. and who in the fukcing world is going to argue that Detroit has great food? i'm making some Sewer Rat Helper as we speak........

I once visited a friend for a week in GA. WE went out to dinner and he was like "let's just hit up Applebee's". We were in college so whatever, it was cheap and it was 2-for-1 beer night.

We didn't even realize it but it was Valentine's Day 2/14. We couldn't get a table. I was like holy $hit applebee's in the V-day spot in the south huh?

I've had some decent Greek food in Detroit.

One of my employees is going to Louisiana to visit relatives next week...

She is brining me back several pounds of boudin... :p

Its nice to get a taste of home every now and then.

i read an article about red lobster once- the way they can sell their seafood so cheap is because they sell it fast, which means they don't have to have the freshest fish or the best cuts. they can use second (or third) rate food, get it for next to nothing, then serve "all you can eat".
add to that the fact that their menu doesn't need to be made by real chefs, and you have kids working in the back under less than sanitary or gourmet settings.
I wouldn't eat there if you paid me.

It seems to be the norm that a huge multi national company tends to offer somewhat mediocre products, pricing, and service.

They focus on marketing and expansion. Possibly creative accounting?

I had their seafood stuffed mushrooms...

They had a really strong taste.

I am use to the strong flavors of fish and fresh game. However, this was more then I could tolerate. I was worried that we might be poisioned...

You would think soooo...

Its just different when you leave in a coastal region. The seafood is so much better.
