Red Flag???

put it an order Wednesday......Thursday credit card company called asking if I authorized a transaction with a computer service company in Europe

others have similar experience?

first why would you use a credit card???? next, yes its normal for them to call cause its not where you normally purchase items. they do that to see if your card has been stolen.

I didn't know credit card companies did that. I did purchase a few things outside the U.S. in the past and never had that happen before.

anything thats not in your spending habbits send up a red flag and they call. For my birthday my mom gave me the CC to pick up some stuff, came out to like 650 and they called to see if it was stolen. Its not a big deal, but im gonna go out on a limb here and say buying gear on a CC isnt that great of an idea.

Why would you purchase any type of gear with a credit card to begin with? Not a very good move.

not a good move at all!

excuse my ignorance fellas but.....after some "searches" I see some people more than comfortable ordering ancillaries like candy at a candy store, ancillaries are not controlled but where do they fit in?

I wouldn't sweat it that much

IF they called you the next day than there really was no time for anybody (DEA,FBI, etc..) to get involved. Your credit card transaction was just flagged because of the transaction, maybe the european thing. Your credit card company is doing this to protect you. My friend used to write "flagging" algorithms for a credit card company; it can be any number of things or combinations of things that can set off an "alarm" for the CC company to double check with the cardholder.
