Recovering alcoholic and AAS

Guys, I hope this does not sound stupid. Can the alcohol in the AAS get in the blood and somehow trigger some of the sides an alcoholic has detoxing. I know it not the same, but there are times after injects that I feel like I have dt's and such for a few days. It happens quite often reguardless of the compunds for the most part. Does not matter the stage either(begining, middle, end). Strange.

First off, no. On a side note, since you have an addictive personality you need to be careful with any new drug. You can develop an addiction even to aas. Addictive personalities take everything to the extreme so be very careful.

Good solid advice right there, take it to heart and be careful with aas, how long sober i might ask? I would prob. not recommend aas in your case.

don't mix alcohol and steroids.

keep up being sober, you will grow to hate the taste of alcohol and view it as a hinderance.. no different than how most everyone on here feels like they are gonna throw up from when they smell mcdonanlds yet most everyone on here used to eat that shit up when we were kids and teens.

Appreciate the feedback. I was sober for 7 years, went back out for almost 2 years, and now it has been over 4 years since I have had a drink.

i think you might be referring to the taste you sometimes get after an injection.

good question, i don't know to be honest if it makes a difference but i wouldn't lose sleep over it. sober for 4 years is great. the only alcohol i have had in the past 7 or so years has been a little wine in my spaghetti sauce. i have no use for it

Your sobriety is so important and I applaud you for dealing with it. If I were you and I even thought that my sobriety may be compromised by anything, I would avoid that thing.

I am also a recovering alcoholic, and I have had no problems myself using AAS and maintaining sobriety. However, I have seen it become an issue for others. It's usually when someone without a lot of sobriety jumps into a cycle and then can't handle their emotions. If you work a program and have a sponsor I would run it by him.

So true about the McDonalds & great words of advice from everyone on this post. Congrats on finding sobriety, health & fitness is a great way to take your mind off of alcohol.

So true.
Honestly, I would rather hear "be careful" or "might not be a good idea" rather than "you will be OK" when I might not be.
Appreciate it, its why I asked. I have 3 solid sponsors and still hit 4-5 meetings a week.

Honestly, in my opinion (16 months clean from Heroin) this will only affect you if you let it.

I was concerned having syringes in my house would trigger old behaviors/desires/thoughts but to be honest i feel more driven to remain clean than ever before.

I have an addictive personality as well obviously, and rather than channel my addiction into something counter productive i focus my energy on dieting now and exercising. Like was stated about mcdonalds, anything counter productive from your goals should be irrelevant in your thought process at this point.

Mind over matter.

Feel free to message me if you ever have that craving, or thought.

Another friend of Bill's here. On my first aas run myself. Wondered about my addictive tendencies and aas plus my mental "if 1's good for you, I'll take 3 to start off with..." I've kept dosage to min to purposefully contradict this behavior. Havent had the urge to drink after pinning, nor emotional issues. On Rx TRT so not as concerned abt PCT as when I did a couple PH cycles - used Clomid in pct, that chit F'ed me up, dealing with the wreckage of my past, a wacked GF, and pct was insane. I've used the gym (6-7 days/wk) as my therapy along w 3-4 mtgs a week. Never felt better, looked better or had a better spiritual connection as I do today.

Im also a recovering addict on my first AAS run, So far it has not been a problem for me but im not going to lie i am concerened about PCT. If i lose all muscle and go into a depressed PCT it is going to be hard to get into another cycle or if i do decide to go into another one to just decide on HRT at that point. Be careful but as for being on cycle i have no had it effect my emotions or sobriety at all. My sponser knows what im doing as well

It is good to see some of Bill's children here...keep it up and just keep working the program as you all are, AAS IMO is not a mind altering drug, it is a performance enhancing drug, but still one that can be addictive if you have the personality for it...so yes be careful and be aware. I read something earlier in the thread about drinking alcohol while on a cycle of AAS...stupidity! Just asking for trouble and a new liver. Smart for those of you letting your sponsors know and not hiding it...that would cause inner turmoil for you if you didn't. Keep working the steps, keep training hard...I switched from drugs to weights back in the 90's and have never looked back!
