Received a call from FDA investigator...

I had a chinese GH shipment seized back last June. The company, ankio, decided to resend me another shipment at no cost. This one got seized also. Then another month went by and ankio decided to send me another shipment. It got seized also. I did not ask for them to resend. I was willing to accept it as a loss unless I could get a prescription.

Now I have an investigator that want to meet with me to discuss the shipment. I have told him that I don't know anything about a shipment of GH from China. I live in california.

Any advice on what is going on. He wanted to meet with me this evening but I am going out of town. So he rescheduled for Dec. 1st.

There's no obligation to sit down with a federal investigator for a chat. While you've made no admissions and didn't take possession of any packages (both favorable factors), the agent's job is to investigate crimes and you would seem to be the suspect. He may continue to make efforts to meet with you, and perhaps gain consent to search your house. (If he has a lot of time on his hands, he might even do some surveillance on you, particularly if there are records of previous international deliveries). Anyway, does chatting over coffee with him sound like a good idea? Hiring a lawyer in your area would be the most prudent course. Typically, the lawyer will advise the agent that you are represented by counsel and that you will not be talking. The cost should be quite reasonable if it doesn't go further.

I concur 100% with Rick. In ANY case of a voluntary meeting with authorities, the meeting should take place at your lawyer's office.

I was investigated by Child Protective Services over a totally bullshit allegation made by my exwife and I advised the social worker to bring herself and the cop on the case to my lawyer's firm where we conducted the meeting in a conference room. Under no circumstances was I going to meet them alone, even though I am perfectly capable of handling interrogations. One reason to have hired counsel present is because it gives you a measure of credibility that you cannot get alone even if you are an attorney yourself. It gives you the option to shut up at any time and to let the attorney talk for you. Cops know better than to play headgames with attorneys present.

If you are too cheap to hire a lawyer, I would advise the inspector that I was declining a meeting pending review/retainer of counsel and that I would get back in touch with him at the appropriate time.

I will be contacting a lawyer on Monday and let them do the talking. I really think the only thing the FDA investigator wants is for the shipments to stop and want to know why the shipments keep coming after they have been seized. Since I have literally hundreds of unopened envelopes at my house, it would be easy to demonstrate that I don't open my mail like most people do. So there attempt at reaching through the mail was not successful.

I will update when I find out more. Thanks for the responses.

I have had cops try to contact me for little BS things and the best tactic for me was to delete the voice mails and take no further action.

The guy left about 3-5 voice mails and that was about it.

I talked with the investigators and I posted what happened on the anabolics board. Too much to cover again, so check out it if you are interested.

The short story is that I confessed to ordering the GH. The anabolics thread talks about why I did this. The investigators will file a report and I am now waiting to find out what action if any will be taken. They told me that maybe I would here from them befoe the end of the year and maybe it will be next year.

I will post the their response when I find out.

So you didn't hire a lawyer AND talked?

Maybe the mods can usefully bump that thread over here!
