Realized something... might take a different approach now

I realized today that I might have too much fat to start bulking off the bat. Being 270 pounds, its kinda on the borderline of obese. I may be over analyzing but I loath being overweight. its unattractive and a hinderance. Im thinking it would be much healthier if i lost a lot of this fat before i started a heavy bulk. heart disease and back problems is a big problem in my family and i dont wanna join the ranks. my dad has arthritis in his back, so does his mom. and a couple of my grandparents have had heart problems. what would u guys do in my situation?
 
I agree, I would aim for good overall condition before trying to bulk. Once you get to that point then it will be easier to see positive results from bulking.
 
avatar is about 18 months old. i was 220 in that pic. i dont know my bf but i know its much too high. im 6'5" 268 pounds as of 1 hour ago. i wanna get down to like 225.
 
You're 6'5" and you wanna weigh 225? WTF?

I'm 5'8 1/2" and 217lbs and one day I'll be 242 and then probably 275 for shits and giggles.

I'd get bigger, make sure you eat alot of good food, and do moderate cardio 3 days a week for 20-30 minutes and your body will take care of itself.

Don't feel you have to fit some GQ or Calvin Klein image because at 6'5" it ain't ever gonna happen. Embrace your height, and since you appear to have wide shoudlers, bulk up big time to compensate for your height and become a mass monster. The key to that is to EAT ALOT OF FOOD.

Besides, weren't you talking about getting into some strongman ish just a minute ago? Can't very well do much with that at 225. At your height that's like being a rail. Too thin for your height and build.
 
If you ask me, being overweight not only sucks mentally, but makes you tired and unhealthier. Cut first in my opinion. Then bulk, but do it without gaining to much fat.
 
stud, i dont mean i wanna stay 225. i wanna cut down to 225 cut i could lose 40 pounds of fat and still have some left. after i cut down to a healthy weight ill bulk up to 260 or so. but as of right now, i have too much fat and not enough muscle to start bulking. i dont wanna get any unhealthier.
 
youve been stressed out too and that cant help, get back into doing lifting 4 days and running 2 or 3, get your diet down good too, good luck
