I've heard the exam is an absolute joke but was curious if anyone here is familiar with the process to get an R.E. license... it would be an asset in one of the jobs my gf is looking at. Experience anyone? thx.

sign up for classes, pass tests, get a broker, send in paperwork, take state exam. in texas about 2 months and $1,000 to get it.

can you just take the test if you know the stuff already?
depending on the courses you took in college, you can usually get a portion of the class hours waived. But no way to get around the rest, although in texas you can take the class "correspondence" from home and then just go into the testing center to take the actual tests. But you will have to go through all that crap and pay for the classes, pass the tests, etc. before you take the state exam.
What about brokers license... she already has a 4 yr degree btw.
Different in every state. In TX, you have to have your sales license for 2 years and complete 900 hours of classes (you'll have about 250-300 or so I think from you sales license) so ~600 additional hours of classes. They made it really annoyingly hard to get a broker's license here, and I heard they are raising the bar on it again soon.

different in every state too. here in florida you either have to have the college courses cleared up or the 63 hours in pre licensing. then pass the class exam with a 75 or better, then on to the state exam. to answer your original ? though, the test is a joke, if you even somewhat study you will pass. i passed on the 1st try on the state exam and got a 98 on the class exam. i've heard of people taking the test like 4 or 5 times but seems like they must already be idiots or something. no offense if anyone here has had that problem
