heres the scenario:

We were playing pool at my buddies house last night, I'm solids and have three balls left my opponent is stripes and has two.

(This graphic is a re-enactment)

So I see that I can easily make two shots, but then I need to somehow make the other ball way in the top of the table which didn't look too easy. If he gets another shot, all the balls (2 stripes and 8 ball) are set-up so that he can easily beat me with one more turn. So what do I do? I hit the blue ball in and then instead of hitting the yellow ball in, I tapped it just enough so that it blocked the pocket for the two stripes. The other dude got all pissed and said I was cheating. Fuck that shit, I call it strategy!

What do you guys think?

Depends. Did the yellow ball or cue ball hit a rail after contact between the two was made? If so, you were not cheating.

Under ball in hand rules (tournament), if no ball hit a rail after contact the other player is free to place the cue ball anywhere on the table.

yeah you need to hit a rail for that to be legal

Sorearms - by the rules, it is not cheating. by man rules, you take it in the ass. Safety shots are for asspirates, grandparents, and limbless Nam vets. Seriously, grow a sac and go for a trick shot or something.

OK, I basically know that for a player of my skill it is going to be almost impossible to hit that top ball in. So what am i supposed to do, make two in, give the 3rd my best shot and then allow my opponent to win the game? Fuck that shit! It's not how you play the game, it's how you win it!

yeah for real... it is not chating if you hit the reail but at least try to figure out a way to try and make a shot or at least set you self up by knocking the red ball closer to a pocket in setting up your safety...
