You'll appreciate this.....

My 10 year old daughter wanted to learn guitar. So I gave her my old acoustic guitar. We put new, really light gauge strings on it. Tuned it up.

And now I got her playing Smoke on the Water! LMAO!

My wife just rolled her eyes and walked out.......

Another rocker in the making. LOL

OMG. Whenever i see a thread with my name on it, i wonder: Is it the IRS, is someone challenging me to an online bingo duel, or is it some nameless dame who found me on the net and is now claiming it's mine.

Whew! It ain't those 3. Yeah, that's good. It's good to instill motivation at the beginning via immediate success and translation into actual songs. She can see the fruits of her labour being put to immediate use. Nothing demotivates someone more than menial tedious arduous hours of "learning". By learning recognizable songs, even small ones, you wind up "learning" through fun. Which is a far more ideal way of teaching someone guitar.
