.........

we could say it's great or it sucks........

but it depends on WHO it's for. Stats, height, weight, cardio activity, weight lifting frequency, judgement of metabolism, etc.

I can tell ya cottage cheese isn't for cutting, and it's not a meal.

The rest APPEARS fine, but it's rather dependent on the statistics missing I explained above.

Why are you so down on cottage cheese? Get either no-fat or 1% fat. Sure, there are a couple grams of sugar in it, and it is dairy...but high in protein.

I wouldn't eat it with an apple, but I have no qualms about eaiting it with some tomatoes/onions/pepper diced up in it, along with some flax seed oil.

.........

Simply because he is cutting.....

I'm a bodybuilder/dietician, and he asked for my opinion.

There are FAR better choices than cottage cheese. I don't like incomplete protein, and dairy while cutting is a no no. It's common knowledge to those "in the know", hence my sharing of information. Perhaps if you look at my credentials and experience, you'll realize I know what I'm talking about.

As well, the no or lowfat stuff is the WORST kind of cottage cheese there is. In the absence of fat, what do they replace that with for taste? Yes, SUGAR...........the entire thing is damn near sugar.

You may like it, but I take my body and career very seriously, and don't choose sub-par food choices for goals such as he has.

Interesting that :)
I dont eat much dairy at all and i've noticed im tightening up so to speak but lets asy you're as cut as you think you're going to get after 13 odd weeks of real hard trianing and dieting. if you are just maintaining? how bad's the dairy?

I wanna stay at where I am now but wanna have a little increase in athletic performance so have added (slowly albeit) more carbs into my diet.

I'm probably going to replace the cottage cheese with a lean cut of beef and a yam. I don't think cottage cheese is a bad food at all but steak gives me a feeling of being full. IMO cottage cheese is an excellent bodybuilding food, very convenient to eat, high in protein and glutamine. If someone wants to be super strict with his diet then cottage cheese is best left out or eaten 2-3 times a week. The sugar content is negligible.

........

Oh no, it's the gang up on SC time w/the Elite kids!!!

Look guys, if this turns into a flame session, it'll get deleted and that won't help the threadstarter one bit. Be adult, and hold back on the insults, shall you?

Say what you wish and banter, "you're a dietician?" Yes, I am, and if you knew anything about the fitness world, you'd understand my reasoning, however you don't, and you have nothing positive to offer, but you join in w/other kids to "gang up" on those who know what they are talking about. Yeah, real mature.......

Do you have your own site? Are you a bodybuilder? Pics to prove you can show what you know? Have the support of Mr. X and are a Guru Mod on his site w/your own forum there as well? Have his support and many vets/mods? Just some questions........

If you answered no to the above questions, then don't question me. Any real bodybuilder or person who is SERIOUS about dieting and weight loss, KNOWS dairy is OUT.

Notice, I said REAL.............

Again, say what you wish, I'm not here to argue and banter. It's a well known fact, plain and simple. You can use cottage cheese for maintenance and for bulking, but if you're cutting there are FAR BETTER CHOICES TO HELP YOUR PHYSIQUE. My guess is you've never gotten to that point in your physique, so you know no better.

actually, cottage cheese is one of the top 5 bodybuilding foods. You're a dietician?

Top 5 for what? CUTTING?

LMFAO..........read the current situation of the said member here, it's not a top 5 food for his purpose. Learn to read the context of the situation, it's what DIETICIAN'S DO.

Read, absorb, listen, learn, and focus your energy on positive things, not attempting to be an Internet smart ass.

hey buddy!
so u sayin that dairy is a no-no on a diet??
can I eat cheese, eggs and cottage cheese on a low carb diet?

.......

eggs are not dairy, they are considered "Meat" and they are fine.

Real full fat cheese is okay, while dieting DOWN, but not pre-contest. It has no sugar at all, so you can get away w/it here.

Cottage cheese is great for maintenance and for bulking, and it tastes great, yes. My point was that to reach a given goal the quickest, you may wish to choose other more productive sources of protein to supplement the diet at that time.

That's all I was saying, but then you have people jump all over you as is the case a lot here. No worries, you either use the advice, or you don't, I could care less as I know how I look and why I look the way I do. :)

The proof......it's IN you!

i was beginning to get worried, i thought eggs would be considered dairy. I'm eating a ton. Is milk isolate okay while cutting? There's very little lactose...

SC - I was honestly asking "Are you a dietician" because I had a serious Diet question. So many people say one thing, but they actually lack the true credentials. Extremely apologetic that you took it in a sacarastic way. Not my intention at all. Guess it's just another supporting factor that the written word takes on many different tones. I 100% agree that for SOME, dairy needs to be cut out when cutting for a show. On the other hand, I know quite a few who not only keep dairy as a staple up until the last few weeks, but also keep carbs on the higher end throughout. Then, there are those genetic freaks who eat pizza and drink beer 5 nights a week and are still benching 400+lbs and shredded. My point is, the best way to learn how your body will react is trial and error. Have a little bit. If you smooth out, then you know you need to nix it.

The slams "kiddie, smart ass, etc." weren't necessary without questioning my intention. CC is an EXCELLENT bb food and yes, one of the top 5 in many readings (along with eggs, chx, red meat, oats, etc.)

Again, I apologize....can't we all just get along.

BTW - I do have the knowledge and experience, but am ALWAYS willing and hoping to learn more.......buzz me, we'll talk.

Cool JKurz, no probs! At times here it gets rough, as I even have people impersonating Anthony Ellis w/ a fake screen-name just to attempt to defame and riducule me. Needless to say these useless attempts get very old, so I apologize in that I'm scarred a bit from these events, lol!!!! However, I'm still on top of my game, and always will be! You've gotta be "Teflon coated" my man, and let the others just slide right off.

I think your diet needs more fat, but I don't know enough about you. Personally you're diet would suck for me. Anyway, replaceing the cottage cheese with some steak isn't a bad idea, and yes eggs may often be refered to as dairy products, they clearly do not mee the criteria. Eggs are alot more like meat than like dairy products, and the last time I checked eggs did not have a great deal of lactose.
