R-ala as a sleep aid!

Need to wake up early tommorrow but can't fall asleep? Been sitting up on EF all night reading thread after thread? Well I've found the answer for you: R-ala!

Forget Serotonin supps and "5-HTP"... Take 200mg or R-ALA on an empty stomach (or more if you've eaten recently) and prepare for hypoglycemia. Your blood glucose will be so low you will be fatigued and tired in no time.

I reason I specify "R-ala" is that one needs to take so much RS-ALA that it will usually result in major heartburn. IF I pop 2x 300mg ALA (= 2x 100mg R-ala), I will have to pop a handful of tums with it!

WARNING: Do not operate heavy machinery! :D

lol
That was funny.
Also, I usually eat before I go to bed, so I don't see how you can take it on an empty stomach.

Being hypoglycemic is not a smart way to get sleepy.
Anyway, I think there might be some superestimation on R-ALA , I don´t think it will shut glicose in the muscle if your glycemic level is in it´s low limits. And even if by a long shot it does, compensatory hyperglycemic hormones like norepinephrin , glucagon and cortisol would get to work right away...And being in an empty stomach at that time would translate in muscle catabolism - gluconeogenesis...

r-ALA on an empty stomach makes me a bit tired. Usually 300mg will do the trick, but I'm sure that there are better ways to take a nap becides hypoglycemia.
