R-ala and ALA question....

Can anybody give me the simple lowdown on wht R-ALA and ALA supplements do exactly? I see this mentioned in most all of Mr.X's articles, yet I have no clue. I thought there was a sticky explaining these, but cant seem to find it.

Thanks

Shuttle glucose into the muscle tissue...i.e. glucose disposal agents. That's in short words....

Do you need to use both r-ala and ala?

Those articles seemed a little dense in information, still having touble making heads or tails if me or my wife need to use this.

Thanks

They are both basically the same, r-ala is supposed to be stronger and display better positives than ALA. I would use r-ala, for I've seen a few studies that peg it as the better one of the two.

one of the main differences:

ala DOES NOT lower plasma insulin

r-ala DOES

this effect is more noticeable if you are insulin insensitive (ie have elevated insulin levels)..

how do you know if you fall into this category?

carbs make you sleepy.
you are older (at 30+ most find immense difference)
you are overweight
