quick question about speeding ticket & insurance rates

nordstrom said:

i know. There is no way i won't get a lawyer, unless the lawyer himself wants like $500 to contest a $60 ticket.

In indiana, 1-15 mph above the speed limit is 2 points. Defensive driving takes off 4 points.

paying a lawyer $500 now is better than paying the rasied insurance rates for 3 years.

as for the points... the driving school will remove liscence points not insurance points.... they stick around for 3 years...

trust me .. I know.

a PJC.. is basically a Plea for Justice Continued (or something like that) In NC if you have not had any tkt in the last 3 years you can request a PJC. This will basically shelve your tkt for 3 yrs (does not count against you). However if you get another ticket w/ in the 3 yrs. You will be judged on both charges the new and the shelved.

GET A LAWYER!!!!

$500??? You don't need O.J.'s lawyer to save your ass from a traffic ticket. I got nailed for a $325 ticket for speeding in a "school zone" (aka: doing the legal speed limit before entering the school zone, but that's a whole other thread). Lawyer was only $70 + $248 court costs = $318 spent in exchange for no traffic school, no points, no insurance hike. Well worth it. Any lawyer charging you more than $100 for ticket defense had better include some kind of guarantee for sexual compensation for the shame of having to go to court or something.

I only used $500 because that is the number he used in an earlier post...... What ever the cost now as in your case $318 is better than pleading guilty and have ing to pay increase insurance. For me my base was $85 per month (2 cars) after my tickets hit is was $246 per month. that's a differ of $161 per month x 36 months (insurance pts stick 3 yrs) = $5796 vs say max of $500 for a lawyer. Maybe this will help him w/ his decision

i live in a small town, and it turns out that the cop who pulled me over is my brother's wife's best friend's husband. And he is the type who would show up in court if i contested the ticket according to my brother's wife.

Also, my brother had a ticket for speeding 6 mph over the limit and his insurance didn't go up. So i guess if i can't get a competent attorney for cheap (also, i really was guilty :( ), and if my rates won't go up i might as well just pay it.
