They want to show off their asses but they want you to think they are just wearing stylish clothes that accidently shows off their asses. So if you take their picture, they will think that you think that they are just showing off their asses on purpose, which they are, but you aren't supposed to know. So, the answer is yes.

My gym has a sign in the locker room stating your not allowed to take pictures of other members in the showers with cell phone cameras. Do we really need this sign?

@ OP, never really caught anyone snapping a pic at mine if it ever happened but i'd imagine it would be awkward for reasons headholio has clarified, which in most cases defeats the purpose of actually going through the process of wearing such fitted clothing.....but anyways im gonna answer yes to that question.
 
I take random pics of people all the time. I do it for motivation.
There's a rather large woman i work with who pants like a dog on a hot summer day when she has to go up or down steps. Then yesterday she told me how she makes this sour cream pound cake with 6 cups of butter. And her motto is " you can't go wrong with food" I have a pic of her to remind myself not to eat that extra piece of junk. Then i have a pic of a super thin girl i see all the time, who hardly eats and swears shes fat, which is a hole i fell in before, not a good place to be.

My vote is yes. As long as there is no ill will in taking them.
