I am unsure of what I want to do in life, but I'm fairly good at IT stuff, so I figured maybe I should just do another IT desktop support position for my next job
I found a contractor hiring for a desktop support position at the University of Minnesota. Its a 2 month gig. He offered me the job and I have til tomorrow morning to decide.
He asked me what I was looking for in pay, and I said "18 per hour"
Now I'm realizing I shoulda asked for more, because I forgot that I'm going to have to pay the extra 7.5% tax in FICA (cuz id be self employed) and theres also major parking fees at the U of MN ($12 a day for the nearest ramp. or $3.50 for a far away lot and hop on a university transit ride for an extra 15 minutes) I'm inelligible for a long term permit because im not hired by the university.
Kinda blows now that I think about it. I shoulda asked for a higher hourly pay.
Past work experience:
I worked under contract for 3 months for a college helpdesk.
I have worked 2 years as a student worker at a college helpdesk.
I have spent much time over the last 8 years (especially in highschool) building and repairing computers for friends, and troubleshooting problems.
Is the salary fair given the job type and my past experience?
