ok so i was just wondering for those who do the 5x5 workout, do u only work the same muscle group once a week?? if not, how often??

and my second question: I do 12 reps at the gym on each machine, working each muscle about 2 time. I do this 3 times a week, is it enough??

For the 5x5, each muscle group gets worked three times per week.

Get away from the machines if you possibly can and use free weights. There are many threads on here discussing the pros and cons of free weights versus machines. The almost universal consensus is that free weights are superior for almost everyone almost all of the time.

With all these damn 5x5 questions, we could just open up our own board. Fuck, our own forum!

Please go and read the stickies or other threads on the routine. There are so many of them out there, it's amazing you could have "missed" 'em. I quote missed 'cause it's likely you didn't even look.

alright thanks. but do u think 12 reps of each weight or w/e a week will be ok for me?? i'm 16 years old and just don't want to damage myself to much. Or should i do 2 sets of 12 reps??. Usually if i do 2 my muscles feel tight and if i only do 1, i dont feel stiff or tight the next day.

You worry too much. You're old, compared to some people who start lifting in sixth grade. You won't hurt yourself if you use proper form. Learn the lifts, and learn them well.

Look up Young Squatter's Single Factor 5x5 Journal. Find the posts where he talked to Mark Rippetoe. Follow that program. Either that, or the single-factor 5x5. Forget this 2x12 shit.

She won't let you? Tell her to shut her mouth, 'cause she has no idea what she's talking about. An alternative? Go to another gym. Get a home gym. Quit lifting. She's obviously a close-minded, ignorant cunt. Slap her.

lol uh thanks for the advice. i know doms is good, but is it good to get it every single time u work out?? because i do

Oh, dear. Now you've done it.

If you work your muscles more frequently, such as in the 5x5, you'll find that not only will you grow and strengthen much faster but you'll rarely suffer any doms.

thank u. i know there are a lot of programmes posted for the 5x5 , but is there anyone in particular ud recommend??. Also, the 5x5 programme involves working each muscle 5 times, 5 sets, am i correct??. sorry for these stupid questions, but i'm very much an amatuer or worse at body building, and my gym teachers arn't the best.
