question regarding the smith machine!

so.. olympic bar is 45lbs, but I'm wondering the weight of the bar in the smith machine? is it the same?

It weighs nothing; it's counterbalanced.

yeah, I assumed it weighed something, else it shouldn't fall when no weight is placed on it and it is lifted up it's cool though..

the one in my gym has a placard saying its 45lb, basically it a olympic bar in guides.

a guy broke his spine on the SMith at the gym last wk...even tho its counter-balanced-- it is NOT a replacement for free weights (barbell) imo.
