Question on LEG training.......

I've never done box or sumo squats and am looking to switch things up today.......do you reccommend either in place of back squats? My lower back has been bothering me so it may be good to take it easy on it today......are sumo squats similar to deadlifts, just a wider grip? Maybe something like:

BOX SQUATS 1 WARM, 3-4 SETS
LEG PRESS X 3
DEADLIFTS X 3
LEG EXTENTION X 3
LEG CURL X 3
HYPERS (WEIGHTED X 2)
EITHER SOME HACK SQUATS MACHINE BASED OR LUNGES X 2?

I think you have confused sumo squats with deadlifts?

I would switch deads with the leg press, seems like a large amount of volume, but if it works for you then do it.

Thats a TON of volume, but like C said if you can handle more power to you. But yes box squats are a nice replacement/addition in a leg routine. Also having a wide stance in a squat can alleviate some of the back pain since it uses more of the "primary big squatting muscles" , the hips, hams, and glutes.

Me personally, and it works very well for me.
Squats x 2 worksets
L-Press x 2 ws
Hacks x 1 ws
I like to start backday with deads but with my back i can only do deads eow. Legs are a priority for me right now so i squat ew. Also, i have added 5 pounds ew on every exercise for awhile and that to me is why i like the lower volume.

your lower back hurts because you are squatting and deadlifting in the same day. rotate them. one week do deads, on week do squats
