I was thinking about adding some chain/speed work to my bench and squat. I was thinking about doing it 3 days before i hit those days respectively. Does this sound right or should i just do the chains on the actual day i work these bodyparts?

Typically in westside when using chains you have two days a speed day and a max-effort day. I don't train westside so I can't tell you offhand about which day you do the chains on but speed work obviously goes on speed day. I know when I was lifting with Spatts that we were using the tension bands on the speed day.
I currently use chains, but not really for speed work so I dont know if this would help you or not But I do them on the day I actually hit the muscle group.
I like bands on speed day and chains on max effort, but you can use them on eaither one. But on speed the chain weight will be different than max effort weight: heavier on ME work and the same goes with bands IMO
